History
The Institute of Business and Medical Careers (IBMC or the College) was founded in 1987 under the name of Medical Careers Training Center and was located on College Avenue in Fort Collins, Colorado. The College has been owned and operated by The Laub Company, Inc. since 1991.
Originally, the College awarded diplomas in the field of
Medical Assisting. In 1995, due to rapid growth of the student body, as well as an increasing awareness of a need for
business programs in Northern Colorado and surrounding areas, the College expanded to include business programs and awards Associates of Occupational Studies degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
Fort Collins is home to IBMC's main campus. Expansion, within the College’s programs, was accompanied by a name change to the
Institute of Business and Medical Careers. In June of 1995, the College moved from its original location to 1609 Oakridge Drive, Fort Collins, Colorado. And with open arms, the southern Wyoming community embraced IBMC in the spring of 2005, where a branch campus was added on Dell Range Boulevard, right in the hub of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
In February 2008, a third location campus was opened up in Weld County in Greeley, CO to help serve populations in this city and surrounding areas. The
Fort Collins campus moved from its Oakridge campus into a 22,000 square foot facility located at
3842 South Mason Street in September of 2008 to meet the demands of an increasing student base and growing staff population.
This new facility brought enhanced technology, larger student service areas and additional classrooms.
In September 2010, a fourth branch campus location debuted in the city of Longmont, just minutes from Boulder and Northern Denver. Due to rapid growth in just over a year's time, IBMC witnessed a region demanding further career training. To assist with this, IBMC is currently constructing an additional 8,800 square feet expansion to this newest campus - which is scheduled to be completed by November of 2011.
Northern Colorado and Southern Wyoming are thriving communities. Through the years, the College has continued to experience tremendous growth. To better serve an expanding population in need of education opportunities and hands-on career training, IBMC has added more courses and programs to match student's skills with the needs of employers, healthcare services, and business sectors in our
School of Allied Health Careers,
School of Business,
School of Paralegal Studies and
School of Massage & Healing Arts at all four campuses in
Fort Collins, CO,
Greeley, CO;
Longmont, CO and
Cheyenne, WY.
