Advisory Board Meeting Held
IBMC Advisory Board Meeting: Reflects Employers Interests and Needs in Hiring Qualified Employees.
The Institute of Business and Medical Careers (IBMC) held their bi-annual Advisory Board Meeting Friday April 3rd. The IBMC Advisory Board is comprised of medical and business professionals, regional employers and employed IBMC graduates. The board members come from the Northern Colorado Communities of: Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, Evans, and Berthoud. The primary function of the Advisory Board is to consult and advise IBMC concerning employer’s needs per employee knowledge and technical abilities within the workplace. The information gleaned from the meeting is used to up-date IBMC curriculum content and to provide current technologies and equipment to train students in up-dated modalities. The flow of communication between employers and IBMC, gives the students and externs a positive advantage in becoming qualified employees in the workplace. This is ultimately a win-win situation for employers by introducing students to employers as prospective employees thought the externship program.
The Advisory Board Members come from a variety of business, medical and legal backgrounds, all reflecting the coursework and degrees offered at IBMC. The Advisory Board participants were divided into three discussion groups ie: Business/Legal, Medical and Massage Therapy. The questions presented for discussion in each group to glean timely information for curriculum purposes were:
• If you were to provide continuing education training to improve the quality of your staff members at your location, what topics would you choose to offer?
• What methods do you use to retain staff? IBMC staff shared their best practices
• Is your industry/business recession proof? If so, how are you fairing during these tough economic times? If not, how have you adjusted to the way you conduct business in your industry
