The Institute of Business & Medical Careers Serves Veteran Student Needs

IBMC recently attended a VA conference in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This all day event was held at the Wyoming Military Department. The conference focused on the Post 9-11 GI Bill and the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP).

Post 9-11 GI Bill Update

  • 2012 BAH takes effect on August 1. Please check the BAH calculator online for updated BAH rates or contact IBMC Veteran Services at Veterans@ibmc.edu.
  • The yearly tuition benefit for private schools is going up. Last year (8/1/2011 – 7/31/2012) the maximum tuition benefit was $17,500. This year (8/1/2012 – 7/31/2013) the maximum tuition benefit is $18,077.50.

Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP)

  • This benefit is designed to provide training for a high-demand occupation (based on data from Bureau of Labor Statistics).
  • Veterans must not be eligible to receive assistance under chapters 30, 31, 32, 35, 1606, 1607, and Post 9-11 GI Bill (including TOE and FRY) at the time of application for VRAP.
  • Veterans are entitled to a maximum of 12 months. However, the 48 month combination rule does apply so the remaining entitlement may be less than 12 months.
  • To qualify for VRAP, Veterans must NOT have a dishonorable discharge.

If you think you may qualify for Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP), please contact IBMC Veterans Services at Veterans@ibmc.edu. We will discuss your options and can help you with the application process.

There will be a VA conference held in Denver, CO on July 24. IBMC will be attending the conference and will update with any new information at that time.
