Students training in the IBMC Healthcare Programs are caring, motivated, and have a strong desire to help others. Your typical classroom day may include the role-playing of real-life situations in a practice setting. Student-to-student and teacher-to-student interaction is an important aspect in each class. Professionals from the medical assistant field are regularly invited into the classroom to present you with new perspectives on pertinent subjects and to share real-life experiences in their chosen profession. Enthusiasm, professionalism, ethics, and the strive for excellence are solid components in all medical assistant training classrooms.
The objective of the medical assistant diploma / degree program is to provide you with the skills and knowledge that will enable you to qualify for an entry-level position as a medical assistant. Medical Assistants assist with patient preparation for physical exams and procedures including vital signs, injections, phlebotomy, preparation of lab specimens, equipment sterilization, EKGs, radiography assisting and dressing changes and suture removal. Medical Assistants are trained to prepare and maintain exam rooms and control and organize medical supply inventory. The emphasis on administrative and clinical skills includes instruction in medical terminology, medical insurance billing, medical office procedures, communication, word processing, accounting, and computer skills.
The Medical Assistant Diploma / Degree program includes an externship where you'll apply hands-on learning from the classroom into a physician's office, clinic, or other healthcare facility. Diploma courses may be applied toward the Medical Assistant Degree program.
