Program Highlights & Objectives
The objective of this program is to provide you with the skills and knowledge that will enable you to qualify for an entry-level position as a medical assistant. Medical Assistants assist with patient preparation for physical exams and procedures including vital signs, injections, phlebotomy, preparation of lab specimens, equipment sterilization, EKG’s, radiography assisting and dressing changes and suture removal. Medical Assistants are trained to prepare and maintain exam rooms and control and organize medical supply inventory. The emphasis on administrative and clinical skills includes instruction in medical terminology, medical insurance billing, medical office procedures, communication, word processing, accounting, and computer skills.
The program includes an externship where you'll apply hands-on learning from the classroom into a physician's office, clinic, or other healthcare facility. Diploma courses may be applied toward the Medical Assistant Degree program.
